| Downriggers are a great
way to get your gear to where the fish are. When a fish bites your
lure and the line releases from the downrigger, there are no awkward
inline weights or obstructions. It's just you and the fish.
Stacking means running two rods off one downrigger and therefore
fishing two depths and lures, as in the picture below. If the lines
are to be stacked close together, we've found it best to run the
top line farther back from the downrigger than the bottom line (for
example, the bottom line out 5 feet from the clip, then the top
line out 15). This reduces tangles, and fish going for the bottom
line may be spooked away if another lure is directly above.
